Fran + @fcflorals
I met Fran in a pretty traditional marketing class at Saint Kate’s which is kind of funny considering we both now pursue passion driven self-employment with very similar mindsets - sorry Corporate America, we just #can’t.
Fran has a deep appreciation for aesthetic which makes getting together with her SOOO very fun. We can gush about a particular hue of orange and the way we love the way light melts all over the room late afternoon. We can talk about things that matter and it’s just nice to be around someone that just GETS it.
Being in creative industries, we both know what it feels like to have the faucets that feed your passion turned ALLLLL the way on. We deemed this time a “creative bender” and there’s no better way to work through it than to join forces and see what comes out of it. I rolled up with coffee + matcha in hand for our session (a bonus for us having a more go-with-the-flow session, open-ended session). We spent our session listening to beautiful music in her absolutely cozy and quaint apartment, working with gorgeous flowers and talking about all the things: business, our spaces, social issues, body positivity, weddings, etc. And I left with a new borrowed book to read (ahem, Shrill by Lindy West, and I would 10/10 recommend).
Fran does beautiful floral designs that are not only oh-so pretty to look at but created with such care and intention. I love being able to get together with a like-minded creative because working in an industry where you are typically working solo, it’s refreshing and re-energizing to brainstorm together, to support one another and to talk about colors + light for 10 minutes (even if most of what is being said is “do you see that, that color, UGH, yes, I love THAT” or I’ll commonly say “THE LIGHT” 300 times and we can describe things with words like “meltyness” and “blendy”).
A day like this is a day I love.
