Kiley + Colson
Spent a lovely October evening running around the trails of Lake Elmo, MN with the sweetest little almost-one-year-old, Colson, and the most delightful 6 year-old, Kiley. We were back in one of my favorite fall locations and it felt SO GOOD to be silly and giggle with these two. Kiley is fiercely protective of her little brother and can do 52 jumping jacks (in a row!!). Colson loves goldfish and thinks that falling leaves is the FUNNIEST thing.
Family sessions (with the little ones especially) can be some of the most challenging sessions (because how do these tiny people have SO much energy???) but they’re also the sessions that usually leave me smiling the whole way home. Kids do such a good job of taking you out of the too-serious, often too-stressful adult world and pulling you right down to earth. You know, the one that they roam around all day, every day. The one where you don’t worry about the stuff that doesn’t matter, the one that leads you with a fierce curiosity, the one that calls you to be fearless and the one that encourages you get up quickly when you fall, to do somersaults whenever you want cause why not, and the one where you’re never more than an arms-length from someone that loves you something seemingly endlessly.
I left with dirty knees from getting down on the ground, with a little lighter step, and a perma-smile like a total dork. Kids are good at making you feel important and if you slow down enough, you might just realize that kid-life? That’s some darn good stuff.
Thanks you Kiley + Colson, I had the BEST time.
