Meet MUA Lydia Slipka
Okay, so you've booked your day. Now what? Whether it’s an engagement session or a family session, one way to make the session extra special is to book a makeup application with Lydia. Whether you want it to look just one notch up from natural or you’re ready for red-carpet glam, she’s the one you want. A professional makeup application photographs beautifully and can sometimes give you the little, extra “oomph” ya want when you’re about to spend an hour (or two) in front of the camera.
Looking for wedding makeup? Don’t worry, if you’re date isn’t already booked, she’s your gal. She’s got lots of experience getting allllll the ladies ready on the big day! That means not only the bride but the bridesmaids and the mamas, too. She runs a tight ship while also keeping things relaxed so it’s no stress when you’re getting ready and you’re just able to soak up being pampered before your big “I do’s”. Plus, I can’t forget to mention that she is literally the sweetest person I know. Not a bad bone in her body, I swear.
Adding on makeup to a session is easy — just let me know and I can reach out to Lydia for your date. And if you’re looking to claim her for your wedding date? You better get in early, because her weekends fill up FAST during the wedding season.

GET TO KNOW LYDIA Q + A STYLE:
How did you get started doing makeup?
I always had a great fascination from an early age around makeup. I remember getting up super early as a young child because I wanted to watch my mom put her makeup on before leaving for work. Even though my mom never used more than five products I was always fascinated by how a little pink blush on the cheeks made her look like she came alive and a few swipes of mascara enhanced the beauty of her eyes! I can even clearly remember what the makeup smelled like that she used, funny how things like that stick with you. I was also intrigued by how the proper use of makeup could totally transform a person’s appearance for the better or worse depending on how it was applied. I started experimenting on myself around thirteen but wasn't allowed to wear it till I was sixteen so that's when my love of makeup really took off. It was like a whole new land of discovery when it came to makeup products and the techniques to using them. I remember watching Youtube videos of makeup artist and making list of all the products they used and then I would save. It was always so exciting when I had saved up enough and I could make some purchases.
When and how did you decide you wanted to do makeup professionally?
I remember clearly when I decided I wanted to do makeup professionally. It was an early morning probably around 5:30 am. I was getting ready to go to my job that I had at the time in Minneapolis and as I was putting my makeup on and thinking about how much I was dreading going to work I had a thought. The thought was "I wish I had a job that I loved as much as I do putting my makeup on." Then it hit me; what if I did do makeup for a job?
